A Note From the President

Fellow Members,

I have recently returned from our March trustees’ meeting and work party in Auburn. It always amazes me at what we can accomplish as we blend our brains and brawn in foundation tasks. I am sure that our editor, George Walker, will give you all the details in this Foundation Report. The latest donation, a fire truck, was picked up in Pennsylvania by trustees Lynn Ewing and Ron Stauffer and is now residing in its new home, our EFV-8 Foundation Museum. Ron and Lynn had it running in no time. Henry would have been pleased.

The days went fast as everyone pitched in. Past trustee Tom O’Donnell came to Auburn and filled the new cabinets he and his son built and donated with our museum treasures. Greg Eaton’s expertise has made museum maintenance disappear and the building looks great. George Elbel arranged and filled the new conference area with literature. Meanwhile computer expert Don Rogers put together computers and cameras to start the monumental task of inventorying our vast museum collection. Landscaping was replaced. Shirley Stauffer helped with the books in the office and as secretary for the trustees’ meetings.
Tiffany Miller, our executive secretary, had to endure all of our questions and rearranging her office. (Everyone agrees that she is a gem.) As usual Greg and Sandy Rice were there to help wherever an extra hand was needed. Then Shelly Van Pelt, our new webmaster, arrived and began her magic. David Stonebraker and George Walker were so involved I could not keep track of their activities. Len Vinyard added humor to our days, some of which was really needed, but can he work. Jerry Fruchey needed roller blades but managed without. I just have to say the museum was a busy building.

On a more serious note, it is this commitment which has made the vision a reality and the museum a destination for others. Think about your future. What will happen to your car collection not only tomorrow but in the future? Do you have a plan in place? Do the future caretakers have the time and money to maintain these vehicles as you have done? The cars of your dreams? Are they members of the foundation? If the answer is no, perhaps you should buy them a membership. In spite of all of our efforts, we have a long way to go, and more members and more cars donated to the museum will enhance what we have started.

Mark your calendars for August 24-27, 2011. Yes, we have been accepted for another Central National Meet in Auburn. Let’s set another record in attendance. Help the V-8 Club and the foundation and have fun at the same time. Register early and save money.
While you are checking the tires and getting your cars ready for this summer’s venues, think about sending in a donation to the museum. Remember that it is deductible.
I hope to see you at the 2010 meets and please stop and visit the new museum when in the Auburn area. If you have any questions, call a trustee. Remember to keep that V-8 between the lines on the highway as you travel. Let’s go V-8ing,

Jerry Vincentini, President
